While many Austin bars and restaurant dining rooms operating under limited service or remain closed for dine-in services, wine enthusiasts may be finding themselves at a loss without the ability to dine at any of the city’s many excellent wine bars and restaurants during this time. Luckily, there are restaurants and bars-turned-shops that are still selling to-go wine right now.
To help make that wine quest easier, Eater put together a guide on the best restaurants offering to-go and delivery bottles right now, for those looking to stock up at home or explore different wines. There’s East Austin natural wine bar and shop LoLo, East Seventh wine bar Apt 115’s wonderful list with 30 percent-off bottles, the wide range of South Austin wine restaurant Aviary’s list. There are retail-priced bottles as well as discounts. Some require the purchase of a food item, and others don’t, depending on which type of permit each establishment holds.
As with all businesses right now, be sure to call ahead to make sure each restaurant is still open or if there are updates on current offerings and service models, as things are changing constantly. Be sure to wear a mask, tip well, and, if you’re ordering delivery, try to order directly from the restaurant themselves.
For more takeout drink options, look through Eater Austin’s continuously updated drinks guide. For more general takeout options, scope out Eater Austin’s takeout and delivery package and the running guide, as well as the ongoing restaurants with pop-up markets list.
A number of Austin restaurants have resumed dine-in service. That level of service offered is indicated on each map point. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit the City of Austin website. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
