Where to Eat Banh Mi This Summer, Mapped

View as Map

With temperatures steadily creeping toward three digits, it's time to explore the world's great hot weather cuisines. Vietnamese satisfies in cold weather with a warm bowl of pho, and when the weather turns warm it's time to check out a more seasonally appropriate dish—banh mi.

Austin restaurants like Tam Deli and Baguette House feature traditional preparations of a freshly baked baguette, cilantro, jalapenos, and a well-seasoned protein (think chicken liver or pork shoulder). There's also more fushiony takes on the sandwich like the short rib banh mi at Elizabeth Street Café. Here's where to eat banh mi this summer in Austin.

This South Lamar truck offers delicious, well seasoned (think plenty of lemongrass in their marinade) banh mi on daily delivered baguettes from new world bakery. The lemongrass grilled pork does not disappoint.

The banh mi exceeds the quality of their truck’s rad, historically apropos artwork. The spicy chicken has a solid kick, and is complemented nicely by their house made Vietnamese iced coffee.

Long known for their brunch and coffee, Cherrywood also offers a simple, traditional, and, most importantly, tasty Banh mi. Plus, you can pair it with a beer from an ever rotating tap.
