Three slices of bread? Yes. Turkey? Yes. House bacon? Hell yes. What makes the Noble Sandwich Co.'s TNP Club so "newfangled"? Noble pickles, for a nice Noble twang. [Photo: Meggen D./Yelp]

Gourmands' "Second Deadly Sin" puts a little (greasy) taste of California into the club lifestyle: Smoked turkey, bacon, Swiss, fried avocado, bean sprouts, green goddess mayonnaise. [Photo: Nathan I/Yelp]

Do not fear the club at this divey north side sports bar, but rather embrace its avocado and tangy pesto mayo, at home on a toasted roll. [Photo: Vivian N./Yelp]

4. Hopdoddy Burger Bar

Does this gorgeous burger-style club look like any you've known before? Probably not, and that's just how Hopdoddy likes it, with arugula and basil mayo to boot. [Photo: Allison F./Yelp]

5. Live Oak Market

4410 Manchaca Rd
Austin, TX 78745

South Austinites rave about this neighborhood market, convenience store and beer stop. Only an outsider would be surprised that their 290 Club, featuring ranch dressing (!) and provolone cheese, is one of the best in town.

6. Dart Bowl

It seems deeply wrong to call anything about the Dart Bowl "newfangled," but their triple decker hamburger-and-bacon club isn't exactly pinkies-up country club fare.
