Gone are the days that Round Rock was little more than a sleepy suburban sister to Austin's bustling boom town. Since 2010, the area's population has increased, and with that growth comes an increased standard of living. This means that Round Rock residents need not make the trek down I-35 into Austin for excellent breakfast to hearty lunch to sophisticated dinner and cocktails.

Here is a sampling of what Austin's neighbors to the north have to offer when it comes to dining out: comfort food from Jack Allen’s Kitchen, giant doughnuts from Round Rock Donuts, solid pizza from Fire in the Hole and Fire & Ice, and more. This update includes Veracruz All Natural and Salt Traders Coastal Cooking.

Check out Eater’s picks for the best restaurants within driving distance of Austin. Keep up with the rest of Eater Road Trip Week on Eater Austin, as well as the other sites.

Everything below is listed in an unranked order. Is your favorite Round Rock restaurant missing? Leave it in the comments, through the tipline, or over on the forum.

With updates by Nadia Chaudhury.
