With a population of only 90 people, Round Top, Texas has earned a big reputation as the host of the state’s premier shopping events, the Original Round Top Antiques Fair in the spring and fall. During those weeks, the rural town swells, attracting thousands of collectors and dealers searching for and selling antiquities, garage sale goodies, and more along a 20-plus-mile stretch of Highway 237. However, thanks to its year-round shopping opportunities, ever-present charm, and convenient location (an hour’s drive from both Austin and Houston), the once-sleepy town is also becoming a popular weekend vacation destination.
While marathon antiquing or during a romantic get-away, everyone’s gotta eat, right? Luckily, Round Top has plenty of choices, and Eater put together the best restaurants found in Round Rock, from bustling Royers Round Top Café, considered a Texas bucket list essential, to more mellow sanctuaries like the wine bar Prost on Block 29. The map includes a couple casual places for dinner with a side of live music for a fun evening out, or just refueling spots in between treasure hunting.
Keep in mind that some restaurants have special hours during the antiques shows. Check websites for hours, and expect some restaurants to have abbreviated menus during those weeks. In addition, many shows host pop-up food vendors so research what’s being offered before you go.
