Rich Gelato, Paletas, and More Ice Cream for Takeout in Austin

Bring home sweet frozen relief

Dolce Neve’s gelato
| Dolce Neve/Facebook

Austin is lucky since ice cream is weather-appropriate all year round (mostly), but summer means temperatures hovering over 90 degrees are now upon the city. The only solution to that heat is to overload on ice cream, gelato, paletas, and frozen custard, available for takeout and delivery services right now.

Here is Eater’s ice cream map for all things cold and creamy, from the city staple Amy's Ice Cream to the rich gelato of Dolce Neve to boozy ice cream from Prohibition Creamery to Japanese takes from Sugar Pine to Thai rolled ice cream at Holla Mode to Mexican flavors from Michoacana Natural Ice Cream to vegan takes at Luv Fats.

As with all businesses right now, be sure to call ahead to make sure each shop is still open or if there are updates on current offerings and service models, as things are changing constantly. Be sure to wear a mask, tip well, and, if you’re ordering delivery, try to order directly from the shop themselves.

For more general takeout options, scope out Eater Austin’s takeout and delivery package and the running guide, as well as the ongoing restaurants with pop-up markets list.

A number of Austin restaurants have resumed dine-in service. That level of service offered is indicated on each map point. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit the City of Austin website. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
