Austin is in the depths of summer and it's oh so hot outside. Among the many ways to cool off is to arm yourself with a sweet and refreshing aguas frescas. The Mexican drink combines fresh fruit, flowers, or even seeds with water and sugar, which means there are so many possibilities, from grain-based horchata, sandia (watermelon), to tamarind.
Austin’s aguas frescas' line-up includes the classic ones from JuiceLand and Veracruz All Natural, the caffeinated version from Spider House, seasonal restaurant takes from Dai Due and La Condesa, to the famous one from Maria's Taco Xpress. This update includes Taco More. For other cooling drinks, check out Eater’s guide to juices, frozen cocktails, and margaritas.
