Austin, Texas, and, well, most of the country this week are struggling through a period of severe winter weather that’s dropped snow, sleet, and ice in places that simply aren’t built to deal with that kind of precipitation. Texas’s antiquated electrical grid and lack of road clearing equipment has also resulted in rolling power outages and dangerous travel conditions across the state. That’s made it hard for restaurant workers to get to work and tough for the many people staying at home without electricity.
