Ghost kitchen restaurant Chicken Salad Shoppe has opened a new permanent location with dine-in space as of July 26. The relocated restaurant is found within the Furniture Mall of Texas at 12901 North I-35, Building 3, Suite 300 in the Parmer Center.

The menu remains the same: the signature chicken salad, as well as chicken salad sandwiches and wraps (a fried chicken, a Buffalo bleu cheese, etc.), other chicken salad versions (bacon-lettuce-avocado-tomato, chipotle, apricot, etc.), and half-pound stuffed cookies, as well as vegetarian items. The new location allows the restaurant to expand with coffee drinks such as cappuccinos, lattes, and drinks that make use of the furniture store’s (apparent) custard.

Orders for pickups and deliveries can still be placed online, as well as in-person now. And now there are indoor and patio seating for people who want to eat and drink on the premises. There is a direct entrance into the cafe, plus an entrance inside the furniture store.

The Mills decided to embark on this physical location of Chicken Salad because people kept asking if they had dine-in space. The furniture store had opened earlier this February with an unoccupied cafe space. The couple was already friends with co-owners, Dan Anthony, Brian Morgan, and Travis Morgan, who “wanted to offer more than just coffee,” as the Mills tell Eater, with the cafe. Then the deal was made.

Last year, co-owners Ivan and Molly Mills had wanted to open Chicken Salad Shoppe as a physical restaurant originally, but the coronavirus pandemic forced them to change their plans. They opted for a takeout/delivery format instead, which debuted last summer. The couple also owns catering company Vanilla Orchid, Molly had been a chef of Hill Country restaurant Hudson’s on the Bend during its first run.

Semi-similarly, local cafe Big Shots Coffee has been operating temporarily from the patio of East Sixth bar Lowdown Lounge during the daytime hours, since the space is unused at those hours.

Chicken Salad Shoppe’s hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and then from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
