Coming Attractions
A new ramen restaurant is opening in South Austin at some point this year. Yoshiko Ramen and Sushi will be found at 8900 South Congress Avenue, Building 2, Suite 200, near Southpark Meadows. The Japanese menu spans bento boxes, sushi, ramen, yakisoba, and poke. Pickup and delivery orders will be available.
Bar Anniversaries
Favorite Central East Austin bar Nickel City is making up for the past lost year by celebrating both its third and fourth anniversaries this weekend. There will be drink specials, guest DJs including the famed DJ Mel, as well as a Maker’s Mark cocktail trailer in the parking lot. There will be a special edition of its Cash Only pop-up bar featuring guest bartenders from Austin and elsewhere, raising money for hospitality nonprofit Another Round Another Rally from 4 to 9 p.m. The party takes place on Sunday, July 18 through the daytime and evening.
Kombucha Collaboration
Stellar taco empire Veracruz All Natural created its own bottled kombucha with local beverage company KTonic. The resulting flavor is the ancho-tamarindo, which is available at all Veracruz locations starting today, Friday, July 16.
Austin Oyster
Shucking pop-up Austin Oyster Co. developed a new oyster through Brunswick, Maine spot Ferda Farms, one of its partners, dubbed the Austin Oyster, as part of its one-year anniversary. To celebrate both, there’s a sold-out party today at Still Austin.
Future Airport Plans
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s expansion plans mean that the separate South Terminal — which includes a food truck court — will have to close, as reported by KVUE.
