SoCal-style Mexican restaurant Reunión 19 from chef Esdras Ochoa is opening a food truck, R19 Taqueria in Hudson Bend. The truck is open as of Friday, April 16, in the new Waypoint Food Trailer Park at 4604 Weletka Drive, behind Infamous Brewing Company.
R19 will serve many of the most popular items from Reunión 19 including tacos, mulitas (which are similar to quesadillas), and asada fries. There will be meat and vegetarian options. The trailer serves sodas although guests can also grab a beer from the brewery.
Chef and partner Christopher Haydostian told Eater he decided to open the trailer to expand outdoor eating options and to move closer to a customer hotspot. The trailer itself features a mural from local artist Kimmie Flores.
Reunión 19 opened in February 2020 in East Austin’s Holly neighborhood. Its menu, which is also the menu of R19, was a collaboration between chef/partner Ochoa and Haydostian, who lives in Austin. Ochoa is well-known in Los Angeles for Mexicali Taco & Co. as well as for being a competitor in the culinary competition The Final Table on Netflix.
R19 joins chicken wing truck Yardbird at the park on a permanent basis, and other food trucks will rotate through (the current lineup includes coffee-and-toast truck Coffee Theory, ice cream truck Dulce Frida, and CraigO’s, a pasta and pizza truck).
R19 is open the same hours as the brewery — Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
