Michigan Detroit-Style Pizza Chain Expands in Austin
Jet’s Pizza, the Michigan-based restaurant chain known for its Detroit-style pies, is opening a second restaurant in Austin, as reported by Community Impact. While there is no opening date set at this tim, the new restaurant will be found at 9000 South Congress Avenue, near that new H-E-B just north of Southpark Meadows. Another neighbor will be the forthcoming Lubbock-based bakery Pie Bar, which will open in November. Jet’s first Austin location opened at 9001 Brodie Lane 2013, and the company had operated one up in Cedar Park, but it closed.

Texas Cheesesteak Chain Opens in San Antonio
Austin-based cheesesteak chain Texadelphia is coming back to San Antonio after shutting down in the city in 2012, as reported by Austin Business Journal. The new location will open at 11255 Huebner Road in the northwest region of San Antonio on Tuesday, November 10.

Cheese and Wine Virtual Event
Barton Springs Italian restaurant Juliet and Hyde Park cheese shop Antonelli’s are throwing a virtual wine and cheese tasting this month. The at-home pairing, led by a cheesemonger and wine expert, will feature seven cheeses and four wines. It takes place on Monday, September 28, with pickups at Juliet on 1500 Barton Springs Road from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and the Facebook live event right after that. Tickets are $80.

Dinner Benefitting Southern Smoke
The Chameleon Group is hosting an in-person dinner on Sunday, September 20, where partial proceeds will benefit Texas service industry nonprofit Southern Smoke. The Thank You Texas dinner will feature two of the group’s chefs — Janelle Reynolds of neighborhood restaurant Rosedale Kitchen and Bar, and Edgar Cuspinera of downtown Austin modern Chinese restaurant Wu Chow, along with East Austin Mexican restaurant Reunión 19 chef de cuisine Ceasar Ortiz, plus cocktails from Daijoubu/the Roosevelt Room’s Sharon Yeung. The three-course meal will take place on Rosedale’s patio with live music, and there are no plans for takeout service. Tickets are $65, and cocktail pairings are $30.
