New Fast-Casual Restaurant Opening
Fast-casual Asian fusion mini-chain Chi’lantro is opening its eighth restaurant on 6301 West Parmer Lane in the Jollyville neighborhood starting today, Monday, August 3. Its hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Currently, most of the restaurant’s locations are open for service, minus the downtown food truck on Congress Avenue and restaurant on Colorado Street. The restaurants are open for pickups and now deliveries.

Band Beer Collaboration
Austin brewery 4th Tap Brewing Co-op brewed up a new beer with the help of psychedelic soul band Black Pumas. The resulting Stay Gold beer (named after a song) is a hoppy pale ale. It’ll be available at most stores, including H-E-B, throughout Texas starting on Friday, August 7. A portion of the beer’s proceeds will also be donated to the Austin Justice Coalition, African American Youth Harvest Foundation, and the Austin chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Austin Stays in Stage 4
Austin remains in Stage 4 of the Austin Public Health’s risk-based guidelines, even though the seven-day moving average of hospital admissions has dropped to below 40 (which would’ve technically dropped the city into Stage 3). This means that people are still supposed to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people and only frequent businesses that are allowed to remain open for now, while also following other state and city requirements (face masks, social distancing, etc.). Austin-Travis County Interim Health Authority Dr. Mark Escott said that the reason for staying at Stage 4 is because the city doesn’t have “extra room in ICUs,” as reported by KUT, and the city’s status won’t change “until we’re in a better place in terms of our ICU capacity and in terms of our personnel in the hospitals.”
