San Antonio chef Nicola Blaque, owner of the award-winning Jamaican restaurant The Jerk Shack, is opening a second restaurant dedicated to rotis. Caribbean restaurant Mi Roti will be found in Pearl District food hall Bottling Department at 312 Pearl Parkway in San Antonio opening Thursday, July 9.
Mi Roti will function as a build-your-own roti stand, with the buttery flatbread folded around savory filling. Rotating protein options will include curry goat, grilled lamb, tikka masala, butter chicken, jerk chicken, sweet potato and chickpea curry, curry shrimp, and stewed lentils with potatoes. Guests can add other fillings like rice, spinach, corn, jalapeños, and a variety of hot sauces.
Blaque is opening the food hall restaurant with chef Lionel “Butch” Blache. He’ll work as Mi Roti’s executive chef. Previously, he was the executive chef of Max’s Wine Dive.
Blaque opened Jerk Shack on Matyear Street in 2018, after which Eater named it of the best new restaurants in America. She owns the restaurant with her husband, Cornelius Massey.
Mi Roti will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
