Eater 38 taco shop Veracruz All Natural has made its stay at the Line Hotel permanent. Veracruz now has a sixth location at 111 East Cesar Chavez Street, in the former Dean’s One Trick Pony space in downtown Austin.
All the locations of Veracruz have slightly different menus, and the location at the Line is the only one to serve dinner every day (the Webberville location serves dinner on the weekends). In addition to the famous migas tacos, the menu has quesadillas, empanadas, and tacos like chicken mole, al pastor, and more. There are also juices and smoothies.
Veracruz opened at the Line in May for what was supposed to be a pop-up through the summer. Ryan Myers, media coordinator for Veracruz, shared with Eater Austin that the success of the downtown location and pleasant partnership with the Line made the team decide to stay permanently.
The downtown location has several options for dining including a to-go window, outdoor patio, and indoor dining room. The space has been revamped for the Veracruz aesthetic, which includes art from employees, keepsakes from travels to Mexico, and lots of plants. Veracruz is also following guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 like wearing masks, frequent sanitizing, and enforcing social distancing between tables.
Veracruz joins several other restaurants within the Line, including Arlo Grey from Top Chef winner Kristen Kish, Alfred coffee shop, and P6 rooftop bar. This also means that casual American restaurant Dean’s One Trick is permanently closed.
Veracruz also has locations in Round Rock and Tarrytown, as well as food trucks at South Austin at coffee shop Radio, Mueller, and East Austin.
Veracruz is open at the Line from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
