Ginormous global Japanese bakery chain Beard Papa’s finally set its eyes on an Austin location, after already opening in Houston and Dallas. The new Austin location is found at the Domain on 3220 Feathergrass Court, Unit 138 as of March 20 for dine-in and takeout services.

Beard Papa’s is known for its particular playful cream puff, where the choux pastry shell is covered in a pie crust, and then filled with a mixture of whipped cream and custard, which results in a light texture. Flavors range from the vanilla to green tea to pumpkin to mint chocolate to even an Oreo crumble one. A rep for the company shared that the Austin location will also feature a “surprise cream puff” when it opens.

Other Beard Papa’s desserts include the chocolate fondant (molten chocolate cake), cheesecakes, and creme brulees. As for drinks, there are custard cream-based ones, along with coffee and tea.

Beard Papa’s started in 1999 in Japan by owner Yuji Hirota (who is the inspiration behind the name and logo because of his beard). The company then expanded with over 500 locations all over the world. After this Austin location opens, there are potential plans for a second bakery somewhere in the city too.
