Two new restaurants are joining the forthcoming St. Elmo Public Market in South Austin: wood-fired pizzeria Fire Dance Pizza and the city’s third location of charitable cafe Greater Goods Coffee Co. The entire marketplace on 4329 South Congress Avenue is still on track to open sometime this year.
Fire Dance Pizza started as a farmers market stand based in Hawai‘i from co-founders Shannon Wiener and Alex Webster. The menu focuses on wood-fired pizza made with sourdough crusts. This is its first physical restaurant. Currently, the website, under the moniker Culinary Kind, features retail jewelry, apparel, granola, and tahini-pecan paste.
Greater Goods co-founders Trey Cobb and Khanh Trang started the coffee roastery in 2015 out in Dripping Springs. Then it expanded with cafes in East Austin and Bee Cave. The coffee company is known for donating small portions of money from each coffee bean bag sold to corresponding local nonprofits.
St. Elmo, which was announced back in 2014, will also house Olamaie chef Michael Fojtasek’s bakery and diner Mignette, Salt & Time’s butcher shop and produce market, the second Texas location of Family Business Beer Company from Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles, and a new spot from Lick Honest Ice Cream (Austin Business Journal noted that it is a “hot and cold dessert restaurant”). There will be retail components, including Texas Hill Country Olive Company’s shop, as well as offices, apartments, and a hotel.
