Restaurant Shutter on the Drag
Campus restaurant Thai, How Are You? is now permanently closed at 2100 Guadalupe Street. Originally, co-owners David Roberts and Somyong Sukkij closed the restaurant in mid-December for a holiday break but decided to just not reopen instead. The restaurant was most known for the famous mural by singer-songwriter-artist Daniel Johnston, featuring a sitting creature with protruding eyes underneath the question: “ Hi, How Are You.” Formerly, the restaurant was known as Thai Spice, but was renamed in 2013 to honor the mural and paid a licensing fee to the family.
More Closings
Austin-based pizza chain Mr. Gatti’s closed up its North Campus restaurant at 3711 Guadalupe Street, as reported by CultureMap Austin. Its last day was on Monday, December 30. Then, downtown bar Terminal 6 is closing after there was a shooting on New Year’s Day, as reported by KXAN.
