Another (Temporary) Lamar Union Shutter
That Italian pizzeria and restaurant that took over Vox Table’s old Lamar Union slot, The Connection Pizza & Bar, is now temporarily closed because of renovations, according to its Instagram account. The restaurant, which opened in February, is from co-owner Mohit Mehra and chef Jennifer Coffman, had operated another Lamar Union spot, market-restaurant Arista Rosso, which closed without any word during the summer.

Harry Potter Milkshake
Asian-Southern restaurant The Peached Tortilla and pop-up decadent sweets shop Honeysuckle Teatime are creating a Harry Potter-themed milkshake. The Honeysuckle Heads to Hogwarts Mega Shake is a butterbeer-chai flavored milkshake with Bertie Bott’s jelly beans, topped with an entire chocolate frog, a potions test tube, and a cupcake. It’s available as part of the Allandale restaurant’s Shakes, Burgers, and Bubbles brunch which is taking place on Sunday, September 8, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Honeysuckle’s Sara Lauren Hinojosa is making the Austin rounds before she heads to New York in the fall.

Torchy’s Wants to Offer House-Made Tortillas
Quickly growing Austin-based restaurant chain Torchy’s Tacos wants to open 100 new restaurants within the next five years, according to Austin Business Journal. Currently, there are 65 locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Arkansas. New locations are planned for Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri, and Tennessee. The restaurant chain is also experimenting with actually making house-made tortillas currently available at the Mueller and Lakeway locations, which could become the standard across the board.
