Home Slice Houston?
It looks like Austin pizzeria Home Slice — known for its stellar New York-style pies and slices — is eyeing a Houston expansion, as rumormongered by Eater Houston. The restaurant created a limited liability corporation called Home Slice Houston Midtown Main, LLC. This would be its third-ever location, after the original one on South Congress in 2005 and the larger restaurant in North Loop in 2018.

Bong Joon Ho Cinema
The Alamo Drafthouse renamed its South Lamar theater in honor of South Korean director Bong Joon-ho and his newest critically acclaimed movie Parasite. The theater is now called the Bong Joon Ho Cinema, as announced during the theater’s film festival Fantastic Fest last week. A plaque commemorating the renaming is now featured on the building, explaining that “[h]is work reminds us why we love cinema.”

Whiskey Barrels in Austin Hotel
During construction of the Austin Marriott Downtown hotel, three bourbon barrels from Texas distillery Garrison Brothers were placed within the rooftop of the building last week in honor of the completion of the structural building. When the hotel opens in 2020, the first guests of the hotel will be able to drink whiskey from those aged barrels. The hotel will feature four bars and a restaurant.

New Austin Coffee Beer
Austin-based canned cold-brew coffee company High Brew is teaming up with Colorado-based brewery New Belgium Brewing Company on a new coffee beer. The Cold Brew Cream Ale is a cream ale made with oats and cold-brew from High Brew. It’ll be available in packs of six 12-oz cans starting on Tuesday, October 1.
