California-based juice bar and health store SunLife Organics is opening its first Texas location in Austin, as part of the whole Music Lane development. It’ll be found somewhere at 1011 and 1009 South Congress Avenue starting in the spring of 2020 in Travis Heights
On deck will be superfood shakes and bowls full of acai, goji berries, blue majik (blue-green algae), nut butters, coconut meats, hemp milk, sea salt, etc. Then there are fresh juices made with fruits and vegetables, alongside bone broths, coffee (matcha lattes, turmeric teas) and juice shots. Everything used is either organic or foraged.
Owner Khalil Rafati experienced homelessness and drug addiction before opening SunLife in Malibu, California, in 2011 as a way to highlight the benefits of eating healthy foods and drinking juices. There are 11 current locations (with another one coming to West Hollywood) in California and one in Arizona.
There’s a whole bunch of new restaurants and food shops slated for the Music Lane development, including other first-time Texas establishments like the members-only Soho House with a public restaurant, Chicago Mediterranean restaurant Aba, and bougie fast-casual spot Sweetgreen. Then there will be new locations of Gelateria Gemelli and Velvet Taco. Just down the street from the forthcoming SunLife is local juice truck Juice Austin.
