Contigo Opens Nashville Taco Restaurant
Contigo’s chef Andrew Wiseheart and Ben Edgerton are opening a new restaurant dedicated to tacos, queso, and coffee in Nashville. Ladybird Taco is aiming to open sometime in February 2020 with the help of co-owner Nashville local Gabe Scott. Along with grab-and-go tacos, there’ll be salads and salsas.

New Restaurant Opening
There’s a new restaurant in the Hill Country Galleria — Java Dive Organic Cafe — which debuted in late August. The restaurant focuses on general cafe fare: coffee, smoothies, breakfast tacos, omelets, salads, sandwiches, wraps, pitas, etc., etc. It’s open during the weekdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Originally, this location was also pegged to turn into a seemingly ambitious pop-up restaurant at night. PopRock Pop-Up Restaurant would’ve housed rotating local chefs for one-off dinners.

Barbecue Digital Web-Series
The second season of digital television series BBQuest will debut later this fall, with host Kelsey Pribilski. On deck are episodes with Emmer & Rye chef Kevin Fink at Dripping Springs barbecue joint The Switch, among other restaurants; and Texas Monthly barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn in Marfa, Marathon, and Terlingua. The series, put on by Beef Loving Texans, the consumer brand of nonprofit organization Texas Beef Council, will premiere on Tuesday, October 1 on YouTube, and will be available on Hulu starting on Tuesday, November 5.

Winner of Booze Competition
The winner of the Most Imaginative Bartender central U.S. regional competition is Austin’s Nikolas Zoylinos from hidden downtown bar Here Nor There. He won with the I Forgot My Line cocktail, made with host company Bombay Sapphire’s gin, a tea blend, milk-washed noilly prat vermouth, citrus juice, Islay scotch whisky, and saline. Next, he’ll compete in the finals in Chicago in February 2020.

New Texas Whiskey
Blanco distillery Ben Milam Whiskey debuted a new whiskey line with Milam & Greene, made by Marsha Milam and Heather Greene. On deck are the triple-cask straight bourbon whiskey and the straight rye whiskey, which is finished in port wine casks.
