Austin-based subscription service Creature Coffee opened up its first physical cafe within East Austin hotel the Native Hostel at 807 East Fourth Street as of mid-summer, found by the Brushy Street entrance.

Creature founder Michael Craig, who is naturally obsessed with coffee, started Creature Coffee in 2017 as a way to highlight and bring Texas beans to people's homes. He was working at Caffe Medici at the time.

There’s the expected array of espresso and coffee drinks at Creature Coffee’s cafe, making use of beans sourced from Texas roasters, which will rotate every three months. There are selected espresso and pour over options, along with coffee-based concoctions like the ruby red grapefruit shandy made with nitro iced coffee and grapefruit juice. Then there are teas, chai, matchas, etc.

For food, Creature Coffee will also offer breakfast tacos from nearby spot Pueblo Viejo, pastries from Sour Duck Market, and brunch from on-site food truck Ranch Hand (which took over the hostel’s kitchen earlier this year).

Creature Coffee’s hours at the Native are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The subscription service will remain active.
