Barbecue Party
In September, new-school barbecue pitmaster Evan LeRoy is hosting a big smoked meats party in South Austin. The Pitmaster’s Potluck will include beef back ribs from his truck LeRoy & Lewis; pollos asados from Esaul Ramos and his San Antonio spot 2M Smokehouse; Korean pork steaks from Houston’s Feges BBQ; sausages from Marathon’s Brick Vault Brewery and Barbecue; smoked beet salad from Weslaco’s Teddy’s Barbecue; and smoked strawberry shortcake from the Switch. Other places are participating, making different dishes too, like appetizers from Salt & Time and pickled items from Casper Fermentables. Tickets are $50 (which includes food and two drink tickets), and it takes place on Sunday, September 8 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Cosmic Coffee.

Sommelier Awards
Three Jeffrey’s service captains were honored at Texas sommelier organization Texsom’s annual conference this year in Austin. Christina Walther was named the best sommelier of the year, with Skyler Ring as the runner-up, and Austin Farina placing third.
