Popsicle Shutter
Alabama-based popsicle chain Steel City Pops closed its Rock Rose location in the Domain Northside sometime this summer. No reason was given for the shutter, but its first Austin location on the Drag remains open.

Beyond Meat Tacos
Unlike Taco Bell, Texas Tex-Mex chain Taco Cabana is working with Beyond Meat for its latest meat-free menus. The company’s plant-based meat will be used for a dedicated Beyond Meat menu, including bowls and tacos. The dishes will be available starting sometime in late August into early September.

Austin Grocery Co-Op Resignation
Wheatsville Food Co-op executive Dan Gillotte officially resigned from the Austin-based grocery store, after a four-year-old video of him singing a song featuring racist black stereotypes was rediscovered earlier this summer, as the Statesman reported.

Austin Honky Tonk
The latest issue of Texas Monthly explored the state’s best honky tonks, which included Austin’s Broken Spoke, with shout-outs to the White Horse and Sam’s Town Point. Of Broken Spoke, writer Christian Wallace talked about how it hasn’t changed since it opened in 1964, from the decor to the food to the dancers.
