Chicago barbecue spot Lillie’s Q, known for this barbecue and barbecue sauces, is coming to Austin for a one-time pop-up this weekend with Austin new-school smoked meats truck LeRoy & Lewis. Lillie’s Chris McKenna and LeRoy’s Evan Leroy’s collaboration will take place on Sunday, August 18 at 121 Pickle Road.
The Lillie’s/LeRoy menu will focus on fare with Caribbean influences. This means lechon asado (pulled hog made with a mojo sauce), jerk chicken, and smoked/blackened snapper. As for sides, there will be mofongo (mashed fried green plantains), pigeon pea rice, and papaya slaw. Complimentary condiments and sides include bread, mango barbecue sauce, and pickled peppers.
Food plates are $20, which comes with two meats and two sides. Supplemental meats can be added for $7, and sides for $3. It begins at 6 p.m. and runs until everything is sold out.
Both McKenna and LeRoy attended Florida State University. McKenna opened Lillie’s in 2010 in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, and the restaurant became known for its lauded barbecue sauces.
