Austin is getting a lot of hotels in the upcoming years, and among them is a two-parter near campus: the “casual luxury” hotel the Otis and the comparatively relaxed AC Austin, found on 1901 San Antonio Street. The hotels will feature four new restaurants and bars: the upper-scale restaurant Acre 41, the casual walk-up counter Burger Bar, tapas spot Bar AC, and the guests-only rooftop pool bar Otopia. Everything is set to open on Thursday, February 13.
Here’s a breakdown of what each restaurant at the Otis and AC Hotel will entail:
- Acre 41 at the Otis: The hotel’s flagship, table-service restaurant is taking its menu cues from Texas and Austin. The name is a reference to the University of Texas Austin’s nickname, Forty Acres.
- Otopia at the Otis: The rooftop bar is found by the pool of the hotel. Unique will be the raw bar dedicated to American wagyu beef (yes). Then there will be usual cocktails and food. The catch: the bar is only open to guests of the hotels as well as pre-selected members. Of the later, the hotel is accepting membership applications, which ask for social media handles and LinkedIn profiles.
- Burger Bar at AC Austin: Much like the original casual walk-up restaurant at downtown sibling hotel JW Marriott, the second location of Burger Bar will feature an open facade serving up all sorts of burgers.
- Bar AC at AC Austin: This casual bar will focus on tapas and cocktails.
Both the Otis and the AC Austin fall under the Marriott umbrella and are being managed by White Lodging, which is also overseeing the upcoming “millennial-friendly” Moxy Hotel on the Drag with an all-hours taco restaurant.
