Sam’s Bar-B-Que Status
Historic barbecue restaurant Sam’s Bar-B-Que owner Brian Mays is still not ruling out selling the East 12th Street joint to developers, if the price is high enough. He famously turned down a $3 million offer in 2018. Many people frequented the restaurant soon afterwards, but May was wary: “I want your support, not your pity,” he told Austin Monthly, “there’s a big difference.”
Brief Clarksville Restaurant Closure
Clarksville restaurant Cafe Josie is temporarily closed through Sunday, July 7 for what it calls “new updates.” The brief shutter started on Monday, July 1.
Free Cookies
In honor of HayleyCakes and Cookies’s sixth anniversary, the bakery is giving away free customized cookies on Thursday, July 4 (aka Fourth of July) at its South Lamar location.
Discounted Tasting Menu
Brentwood restaurant Barley Swine is bringing back its summer discounted tasting menu starting next week. The typically $95 multi-course tasting menu will cost $65 only from Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m.
Ice Cream Donations
Frozen sweets shop Lick Honest Ice Creams is accepting donations for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas at all of its Austin and San Antonio locations through the month of July. Likewise, on Sunday, July 21, Lick will donate ten percent of its entire sales, as well one dollar for every Instagram post of its temporary tattoo that also tags the shop to the charity organization.
