Female-Chef Led Grilling Event at Franklin Barbecue
Les Dames d’Escoffier’s Austin chapter is hosting a female-led grilling event at Franklin Barbecue on Thursday, September 5. There will be grilling demonstrations, live-fire-cooked dishes, raffles, and a silent auction which will include an actual Franklin Barbecue pit. Participating chefs include Amanda Turner (former Juniper executive chef, now chef de cuisine of Jester King), Janie Ramirez (Dai Due), Julia Poplawsky (formerly of Dai Due, now part of the Austin Meat Collective), Paula Disbrowe (author of Thank You for Smoking), Sarah Petmecky and Cory McNease (Franklin Barbecue), and others. The event makes sense since Stacy Franklin is the organization’s activities chairwoman. It’ll take place at Franklin’s parking lot from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $75, and VIP tickets are $95. Funds raised will go towards Les Dames’ scholarships and grants.
