Bull & Bowl, a new bar centered around duckpin bowling and mechanical bull-riding, is taking over two locations that were slated to be bowling alley restaurant the Goodnight: one in south Austin and downtown Austin. Though currently in the final rounds of fundraising, Bull & Bowl plans to move into 501 West 6th Street and 10035 Manchaca Road at some point. While the West Sixth location had originally been pegged to open in late September, its timeline has been pushed back to late February or early March 2020 (just before South by Southwest).

Bull & Bowl will have a full bar and food menu. A sample menu posted on the website includes standard bar food like sliders and taco trios, chicken wings, cauliflower flatbreads, and something described as “fried crab cake deviled eggs,” as well as entrees like salads and a pork chop and desserts.

In addition, Bull & Bowl offers a suite of entertainment including billiards tables, private karaoke rooms, duckpin bowling (a variation of bowling with shorter lanes and a smaller ball) sourced from Hungary, and of course a mechanical bull. A press release teased more offerings announced at a later date.

Bull & Bowl is the first venture from B&B Hospitality and managing partner Daniel Borrelli. It is not related to the New York-based B&B Hospitality Group that Mario Batali was a part of until recently.

The Goodnight, an upscale bowling alley and bar on Anderson Lane, announced a downtown location back in 2015. However, the Anderson Lane location closed in May and was replaced in November by High 5, a restaurant that similarly offers food, drinks, and bowling.

The West Sixth address that includes Bull & Bowl will also feature Japanese restaurant TenTen and nightclub Mayfair. Downtown will be getting two bars with games when Punch Bowl Social moves to Congress Avenue (it was supposed to open in February).

Update August 8: This article has been updated to clarify that the Anderson Lane location of The Goodnight became High 5.

Update December 17: This article has been updated to reflect the current projected opening timeline of Bull & Bowl in 2020.
