St. Elmo Public Market Delay
It looks like the opening of St. Elmo Public Market — the public market with restaurants, bars, and retail set for 4329 South Congress Avenue — is being delayed. Originally it was looking to open in October 2019, but now it’s being pushed back into 2020. The space will include Olamaie’s diner/bakery Mignette, a new location of Salt & Time with an emphasis on its marketplace with produce and a wine bar, the second location of Family Business Brewing Co., and an unnamed shop from Lick Honest Ice Cream.
Austin Restaurant Beer Collaboration
MLK restaurant Contigo partnered with South Austin brewery St. Elmo Brewing Co. for a new beer. The Ranch Hand is a light ale made with hopi blue corn from Barton Springs Mill. It’s available at the restaurant starting on Friday, July 19 with a party from 6 to 9 p.m.
Chicken Wing Bar Anniversary
As part of Pluckers Wing Bar’s 24th birthday, the sports bar will offer up daily specials from Tuesday, July 23 through Monday, July 29. This includes discounted chicken wings, fried cheese, and beers, among others. The first 100 people at each location who order the Keep the Mason Jar special will be able to, in fact, keep the actual souvenir glassware. The first 25 people at each location who also eat five of the Fire in the Hole chicken wings will also get a free T-shirt.
