The West Sixth area is getting a new restaurant as part of the forthcoming Canopy by Hilton hotel. The unnamed restaurant and hotel are set to open in downtown Austin on 612 West 6th Street sometime in mid-May 2020.
There aren’t many available details about the new restaurant yet. It will have an all-day New American menu with seasonal ingredients, produce, meats, fish, and poultry. It will feature a mornings-only coffee counter with espresso, pastries, and breads, all made in-house.
The space itself, designed by architecture firm Lake Flato, Dallas-based firm Seifert Murphy, Austin firm STG Design, and food service planning and design company The Design Difference’s Scott Levine, will include a dining room, bar and lounge, and patio. Also unofficially consulting on the restaurant aspect are Holy Roller’s Callie Speer, Comedor’s Philip Speer, and Parkside Projects’ Shawn Cirkiel.
The restaurant and hotel are being developed by private equity firm Scenic Capital, which is also involved in other nearby spots like Holy Roller and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Principale Richard Singleton is a co-owner of the restaurant, among other investors.
