Fresh off the first the first Democratic debate this week, Beto O’Rourke, the 2020 Presidential candidate and Texas politician, is making an Austin stop during his campaign. The event, which takes place at Scholz Garten on Friday, June 28 from 6 to 9 p.m., is open to the public, but people are required to register online. Will he stand on a table?

As part of the event, Scholz Garten will offer up special barbecue plates for the occasion. The Texas BBQ plates will include post oak-smoked brisket and sausages, served with slaw, potato salad, pickles, and onions for $15.95. Plus, there will be burgers, bratwursts, beers, and cocktails (including margaritas).

O’Rourke, who is one of the many candidates running in the presidential primary, will give a speech at the historically and politically significant beer garden and restaurant. Singer-songwriter Marcia Ball, along with additional musical guests, will perform before and after the speech.

The Whataburger-loving former Texas congressman ran for the Texas senate last year, but failed to nab the seat. He announced his run for presidency in March. This isn’t the first time he made a campaign stop at Scholz Garten, either. He was there in 2017 during his senatorial campaign.
