Chicken Tender Expansion
Happy Chicks, the chicken tender-loving restaurant with two spots in downtown Austin, is expanded with its third location up in the Brentwood neighborhood. It’s taking over what had been a location of taco chain El Chilito on 6425 Burnet Road, which closed suddenly last fall. It’s set to open before the end of 2019. It first opened in August 2017 in the former Gino’s East Space on Sixth Street and expanded with a second one in September 2018.
Southern-Cajun Restaurant Shutter
Steiner Ranch Southern-Cajun restaurant Poppy’s Southern Recipes closed last weekend because of a medical diagnosis for co-owner Mark Harvey which “will require our full dedication and resources,” according to the Facebook post. The restaurant attempted to cut back its hours to four days a week, but that didn’t work. Its last day was on Saturday, June 22.
