Dallas-based cider bar and arcade Bishop Cidercade has finally opened its first Austin location. The bar and arcade is expanding into the former Joe’s Crab Shack location at 600 East Riverside Drive, as of Friday, August 28.
The Austin location of Bishop Cidercade will serve over 24 ciders (but no beer) on draft in a whopping 13,000-square-foot facility, which includes a patio on the lake. The Cidercade also offers wine, hard kombucha, and sodas. For food, there are 10” thin-crust pizzas (both creations like a spicy bbq pizza and build-your-own) as well as a dessert calzone with Nutella, cream cheese, peaches, and honey.
Bishop Cidercade Austin follows the same format of the Dallas location, which charges a $10 cover, and is family-friendly during the day but only allows adults over 21 after 8 p.m. The bar features many classic arcade games (the Dallas location has over 150), which are free to play. There’s also a Cidercade heading to east downtown Houston.
The Cidercade was originally scheduled to open in March, but was not able to because of Governor Abbott’s restrictions on arcades during the state’s reopening plan.
Dallas-based Bishop Cider Co., owned by Joel and Laura Malone, first opened in 2014, and opened the first Cidercade as part of its expanded facility in 2016.
Joe’s Crab Shack had been closed since October 2018 and the property has been up for lease since March.
