Hotel Zaza, the boutique hotel mini-chain out of Houston, is bringing two new restaurants as part of its first foray into downtown Austin. The restaurants — Perfect Strangers and weekend-only Group Therapy — will be located on 401 Guadalupe Street, and is open as of today, September 10th.
Perfect Strangers is a more traditional restaurant, serving breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch, and dinner. That means avocado toast and $14 breakfast tacos in the mornings; and options from soups and salads to more extravagant entrees like steak, butter-poached king crab, and spaghetti Bolognese for lunch and dinner. Scope out the full menus below.
The restaurant, which found in the hotel’s lobby, has patio seating along West Fourth Street.
Group Therapy is the hotel’s cocktail bar. It is only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Located on the seventh floor of the hotel, it will have drinks and shared plates, with seating options indoors and outdoors by the pool, and by a live music venue called Stage Fright.
There’s also the poolside Cabana Bar that overlooks Republic Square.
The hotel’s corporate director of food and beverage is Jacob Weaver, who is formerly of Austin Italian restaurants Asti and Juliet Italian Kitchen. Rounding out the staff is chef de cuisine Daniel Hatcher, formerly the executive chef of nearby seafood and steakhouse Truluck’s and corporate director of outlet operations David Esquibel.
Hotel Zaza first announced an expansion to Austin in October 2012, but was plagued by delays.
Perfect Strangers is open from 6:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday, until 1 a.m. on Thursday, and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Group Therapy is open Thursday through Saturday from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m.
