Wonder Bar, an interactive bar designed to “activate all five senses,” is now open in Rock Rose at the Domain Northside. Wonder Bar moved into 11500 Rock Rose Avenue, taking over the former St. Genevieve space, which closed back in February.
The bar is clearly catering towards the Instagram crowds, with several colorful rooms with themes like disco, space, and clouds with accompanying neon signs. There’s also an outdoor deck and a secret room that holds a bathtub filled with rubber ducks.
Wonder Bar has a full bar, which offers cocktails like Disco Bull, with tropical Red Bull and Bacardi Dragonberry; and Two in the Pink (a reference to a specific sex move), with gin, grapefruit vodka, and grapefruit soda. The bar also offers drinks with a picture printed on the foam, which, per a review from A Taste of Koko, must be ordered in advance. Buying a $10 shot also yields a spin on the bar’s prize wheel, which offers a chance to win drinks, gift cards, or sex toys.
Wonder also has a small menu of basic bar-friendly food: chips and queso, fried pickles, a burger, and such.
Wonder Bar is owned by Union Venture Group, run by Jeff and Darren Van Delden. They also operate several other bars on same block on Rock Rose, including Rose Room, Irish bar Jack and Ginger’s, and rooftop bar 77 Degrees, as well as the Park at the Domain and South Lamar, Somersault Innovative Cocktails, and Local Post Pub.
