San Francisco-based chain Ike’s Love & Sandwiches is opening its first-ever Texas location in the Austin-area, found up in Cedar Park at 1335 East Whitestone Boulevard starting today, Wednesday, May 15.
Founder and CEO Ike Shehadeh teamed up with former Houston Astros pitcher Mark Appel for the Austin Ike’s. There’s already a second location slated for Sunset Valley at 5207 Brodie Lane, Suite 210, which will open in a couple of weeks though there’s no specific date pegged yet.
Ike’s is known for its long menu of hot, sauce-drenched sandwiches. The Cedar Park location will feature three new Texas-only sandwiches. There’s the Running Brushy with roast beef, the sandwich chain’s barbecue sauce, green chilis, and pepper jack cheese; the Cluck Ranch which is the vegetarian version of the Running Brushy but with vegan steak; and the fried chicken sandwich with honey, barbecue sauce, honey mustard, and pepper jack/swiss/cheddar cheeses.
To celebrate its Texas debut, Love is giving away free sandwiches to the first 50 guests on Thursday, May 23 starting at 10:30 a.m.
The rapidly growing chain already has over 50 locations open across California and Arizona, with more planned, including Austin and Houston. Shehadeh opened the first sandwich shop in 2007 when it was called Ike’s Place.
