Rideshare company Uber is going all out for South by Southwest this year through its food delivery branch Uber Eats. This includes a pick-up food window right in the heart of East 6th Street as well as big-time musical performances with (mostly) out-of-town restaurants in downtown Austin.
First, the Uber Eats Window will offer to-go food for festival attendees. On deck will be dishes from participating Uber Eats restaurants in Austin like Peached Tortilla, Tamale House, and Juice Austin. It will be found on 600 East 6th Street at Red River Street. It will be open from Friday, March 8 through Saturday, March 16. Restaurants and dishes will be announced daily through the app, but the full list follows below.
Uber Eats is also host concerts with food components during the music portion of SXSW at 612 West 4th Street in downtown Austin. This kicks off with Los Angeles chef Roy Choi, who will serve up food from his Korean barbecue spot Kogi while playing and talking about hip-hop with music writer Jeff Weiss.
The house will also feature Texas singer-songwriter Khalid alongside food by fast-food company McDonald’s, fashion designer and DJ Virgil Abloh and desserts from the famous Milk Bar, and pop singer Billie Eilish with fast-casual vegan chain By Chloe.
The Uber Eats House takes place from Tuesday, March 12 through Saturday, March 16. The Choi event is only available by invitation, while the others are open to SXSW platinum and music badges, plus artist wristbands.
The delivery service is also going to send out “surprise drops” of food to SXSW attendees waiting in line for events throughout the festival.
