Dee Dee, one of Austin’s best Thai food trucks, is moving from its East Austin home at 2500 East Sixth Street into South Austin at Radio Coffee & Beer found on 4204 Manchaca Road. This means both of Dee Dee’s trucks will make the move, its original truck, and its finally completed barbecue truck. Everything should open sometime in early April.

Update, April 4: Dee Dee is now open at Radio Coffee as of Thursday, April 4.

As part of the new location and smoked meats truck, chef and co-owner Lakana Trubiana has been testing whole rotisserie spatchcocked Thai chicken. It will come with two sauces, sticky rice, and pickled cucumber salad. The truck has been doling out the chicken in limited quantities.

There’s also a new dish, the som tom isaan (spicy papaya salad), which will be made with salted crab. Dee Dee’s popular drinks — Thai iced tea and Thai iced green tea — will be available inside Radio.

“Radio reminds us of our favorite hangouts in Thailand,” said Dee Dee co-owner Justin Trubiana, “where we’d eat, drink, and relax.”

Dee Dee’s food truck neighbor will be the taco-slinging Veracruz All Natural. Recently, breakfast/brunch truck Paperboy left its post at Radio for South Lamar.

Dee Dee opened on East Cesar Chavez in 2016, and then moved onto East 6th as part of bar La Holly in February 2018.
