“We believe this is due to all the love and support that you all showed in reaction to our post,” noted Veracruz’s Instagram post. They also thanked their landlord “for being willing to extend our East Cesar Chavez contract.”
After the year is up, Veracruz will look for another permanent home somewhere in East Austin.
Originally, Veracruz received a notice stating that it had to move out of its food truck location within 30 days, which had meant by the end of March. Next-door neighborhood barbecue and kolache and klobasnek truck Kerlin’s BBQ received the same vacancy notice and originally had to move as well.
Veracruz owners and sisters Reyna and Maritza Vazquez opened the first food truck back in 2008. They now run three taco trucks and two restaurants in total.

We have great news! It looks like we will be able to stay at our original location on E Cesar Chavez, at least through the end of the year, and we believe this is due to all the love and support that you all showed in reaction to our post a week ago about being evicted. Sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you Austin (and to our landlord for being willing to extend our E Cesar Chavez contract)! We will continue to keep you posted. This photo was taken about 10 years ago when owners Reyna and Maritza had just opened on E Cesar Chavez. Such great memories that will always stay with us.
