Kinda Tropical, the East Austin restaurant-slash-bar-slash-convenience store, is now reopened at 3501 East 7th Street after it had to temporarily close because of unpaid taxes in January. It owed $63,634 to the Travis County Comptroller Office, as the Chronicle previously reported.

Currently, Kinda Tropical had operating under limited service during South by Southwest. Now the restaurant is open for full hours from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Friday, and until 1 a.m. on Saturday. Daily brunch is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Kinda Tropical team took the break to implement some changes to the space. There’s an updated menu overseen by new chef and co-partner of Kinda Tropical, John Clark DiCicco. This includes brunch-only waffles made with a CBD cold-pressed tincture featuring a giant hemp leaf imprint. Other dishes from the previous menu remain, like the avocado toast. He had previously been with Southern restaurant Olamaie.

Then there are beers, wines, and cocktails, like the spicy pineapple margarita.

Out front, the former gas station pump awning is now a big sign for the space, hand-painted by artist Joe Swec.

The restaurant/bar/convenience store opened in the former A-1 Food Mart on East 7th Street in May 2017. Amy Mullins is among the co-owners and co-partners of Kinda Tropical, many of whom are involved with East 6th Street bar Yellow Jacket Social Club.

This article has been updated to reflect Kinda Tropical’s full hours, as well as the availability of the waffle.
