It seems like Guy Fieri really does love Austin: the city’s Tex-Mex barbecue truck Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ is being featured on the television host’s series Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The forthcoming Food Network episode with pitmaster Miguel Vidal and Modesty Vidal will air on Friday, February 15 at 8 p.m.
The episode, titled “Whole Lotta Comfort,” centers on, well, comfort food. While Valentina’s couldn’t comment on the taping yet, the episode summary describes “a barbecue joint making monster sandwiches and spot-on smoked burgers in Austin, Texas.”
Valentina’s sandwiches come filled with smoked meats like brisket (sliced or chopped), pulled pork, or pulled chicken, alongside mesquite-smoked barbecue sauce, sea salt and lime guacamole, and tangy slaw. The burgers, offered as a special every now and then, are usually stuffed with various ingredients like cheese, bacon, poblano peppers, and pico de gallo.
To celebrate the episode, the barbecue truck is hosting a viewing party at its 11500 Manchaca Road location starting at 7 p.m. that day.
Fieri was in town late last year filming scenes for his new television series Triple D Nation, where he revisits establishments featured on Diners. While there is no guarantee as to which Austin restaurants would appear on the final show, he hit up Home Slice Pizza, Holy Roller, Noble Sandwich Co., Boteco, and Pieous.
