There’s a new retro bar in the East Riverside area courtesy of the co-owner of honky-tonk dive bar the White Horse. Frazier’s is now open at 2538 Elmont Drive within the South Shore district as of Saturday, February 2, with a limited food menu for now.
Food involves bar-friendly items like patty melts, corn dogs, chicken wings, fries, fried pickles, and the intriguing cheese-on-a-stick. Also on deck are beers (locals as well as Coors), nitro cold brew, shots, and cocktails.
Frazier’s space features pool tables, a shuffleboard, jukebox, a comfortable-looking lounge area, and fun wallpaper. The dog-friendly patio will open after South by Southwest. The bar’s logo involves an elongated dachshund (Frazier’s tagline is ”long and low”).
Frazier’s is run by Nathan Hill, who opened the ever-popular, East Austin bar White Horse with Denis O’Donnell in 2011, as well as Michael Frazier (hence the name). Frazier had been a bartender at White Horse for a while. Hill also runs another further East Austin bar, Stay Gold, with Will Tanner, which opened in 2015.
The bar’s hours are from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily. Lunch will be added at a later date.
This article has been updated to include Frazier co-owner Michael Frazier, and to reflect that the patio isn’t open yet.
