A new food incubator is opening in Austin courtesy of Kitchen United. The Pasadena, California-based company is opening its third location at 8023 Burnet Road in Wooten sometime in the summer. There will be 10 to 15 food businesses, which are still being finalized.

Kitchen United works as a shared kitchen center, or as Eater LA described it, a cloud kitchen. There’s a major emphasis on delivery, pickup, and/or catering businesses. There is no dine-in space available. It features full auxiliary kitchens for participating companies. Existing restaurants could use the space to grow with more delivery, takeout, and/or catering demands, or fledgling/new restaurants could use it as startup spaces for their debuts.

Austin was chosen “given its evolution as a growing hub for young adults,” according to Kitchen United’s chief operating officer Meredith Sandland in a statement.

Kitchen United is also opening a fourth location in Scottsdale, Arizona this summer, along with looking for addresses in Atlanta and Columbus, Ohio. There’s a center in Chicago as well.

Other Austin food incubators include Cook’s Nook and Capital Kitchens.
