Austin Proper, the luxury hotel and residential building set for the downtown area, will feature restaurants and bars overseen by local group McGuire Moorman Hospitality. This includes two restaurants with a focus on grilled foods, one Mediterranean-inspired and the other Mexican. It’s set to open at 600 West 2nd Street in June.

The Mediterranean-inspired grill restaurant will be found on the ground floor of the building. The Mexican restaurant, which will be located next to one of the elevated pools, will emphasize wood-burning grills. Also included in the building are two cocktail bars and a coffee shop with to-go options. The hospitality group will also provide room service to hotel rooms.

The interior design will be helmed by Kelly Wearstler, who will make use of Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts motifs with Austin touches, like a neon light fixture and a staircase with vintage carpets and pots.

On the same block, the Emmer & Rye team is opening their own live-fire-focused restaurant, Hestia, within the upcoming Facebook building on Nueces Street.
