Beaux Seafood, a Cajun food truck based in Manchaca, Texas, is now serving out of a second truck at Quickie Pickie in the Holly neighborhood. It has been located at 2027 East Cesar Chavez Street since January, and will not be mobile.
The new food truck will serve the same menu of Cajun-style seafood like fried oysters, crawfish hushpuppies, fried alligator, along with daily specials.
Owner Beau Hobbs, a Baton Rouge native who grew up cooking seafood, opened the first trailer in Manchaca in 2016. He told Eater Austin that the Quickie Pickie general manager Mohammad Walid came by to eat, then recruited him to come share their space.
Since famed spot La Barbecue, which is inside the store, closes early, Hobbs hopes to catch the dinner crowd and take advantage of the Quickie Pickie’s large selection of beers on tap. Hobbs is also considering delivery options.
Before Beaux, Hobbs has spent 27 years in the service industry, previously working at Maggie Mae’s and Word of Mouth Catering. He hopes to someday open a brick and mortar restaurant, if the right investor comes along.
Beaux Seafood is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday, and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
