Spider House Cafe Arcade
There’s a major change in store for north campus spot Spider House Cafe: in light of alleged sexual assault allegations against Spider House co-owner John Dorgan and his libel and slander lawsuit against business partner Conrad Bejarano and former employee Jeremy Rogers, the cafe is nixing its live music programming and space after South by Southwest this March. The space will be turned into an arcade bar instead. Bejarano, who is leading the transformation, told the Chronicle it’s happening because people “have voiced their opinion.”
More Torchy’s Tacos
Restaurant chain Torchy’s Tacos is expanding yet again with a new location. It’s opening its second Round Rock location in the former pizza restaurant space belonging to P.S. 35 (which closed in November 2017). There is no opening date as of now.
La Croix Zebra Mussels
Austin’s water supply has been smelling strange starting last week thanks to a zebra mussels infestation in a water pipeline, and to commemorate the time, someone put together a fake image of a zebra mussel-flavored La Croix can.
Asian Food Festival Winners
The second Far East Fest occured this weekend, up in the parking lot of Korean supermarket H Mart. Among the food competition winners were Sway with its chao tom as critics’ choice and creative dish, and forthcoming vegan ice cream shop Gati’s golden milk coconut ice cream as best dessert.
