John Mueller’s Barbecue Return
Famed Texas pitmaster John Mueller is back again, as reported by Texas Monthly, after the shuttering of Georgetown truck Black Box Barbecue earlier this fall. He’s going to cook at brewery Granger City Brewing Company in, yes, Granger, Texas. The table-service operation is called Barbecue by John Mueller. On deck’s the usual smoked meats lineup: brisket, ribs, pulled pork, etc., sides (including that cheesy squash). The barbecue joint will open this weekend on Saturday at 11 a.m. Regular hours will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, or until everything is sold out.
H-E-B South Congress Updates
The South Congress H-E-B will close on Sunday, March 22, as reported by Statesman, ahead of the construction of a bigger, fancier grocery store with a food hall and beer garden at the same location on 2400 South Congress Avenue. It’s aiming to open in 2022. Before that demolition, the company will open a smaller temporary store across the street at the Twin Oaks Shopping Center on 2315 South Congress Avenue on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.
Sandwich Chain Opening
San Francisco sandwich chain Ike’s Love & Sandwiches opened its third Austin-area location up in Round Rock earlier this week. It’s found within the University Oaks Shopping Center on 201 University Oaks Boulevard, Suite 1340. Known for its sauce-drenched sandwiches, Ike’s opened its first Texas restaurant in Cedar Park this summer, quickly followed by the Sunset Valley one.
