Franklin Barbecue owner Aaron Franklin’s next venture, the breakfast taco and coffee truck, is now open. Tacos & Coffee is found at the barbecue restaurant on 900 East 11th Street in Central East Austin. The truck is still in limited service and hours as it’s experimenting with food and coffee.
The menu, as shared by food writer Jimmy Ho on Twitter, is a simple one. The customizable tacos can be filled with, yes, barbecue like chopped brisket, chorizo, sausage patties, and/or bacon. Non-meat foods include potatoes, eggs, cheese, refried beans, and guacamole. There’s a three-item minimum per taco.
As for drinks, there are espresso-based drinks, dip coffee, and the Franklin’s F60 pour over, and whole or oat milk options. Remember, Franklin is a major coffee nerd. Elsewhere, there’s an array of teas, hot chocolates, Ramblers, and Mexican coke.
Franklin announced that he was opening the taco and coffee truck in the summer of 2018, to put an end to the bizarre rumor that he was closing the restaurant, which just celebrated its tenth anniversary.
